SRINAGAR, MAY 12: Central Kashmir Excise Range intensified its crackdown against the illicit cultivation of narcotic crops under the Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan and destroyed illegal poppy cultivation at multiple locations across the Srinagar-Budgam-Ganderbal Excise Range in collaboration with Police, Revenue and Agriculture Departments.
During the enforcement drive, illegal poppy cultivation spread over different patches of land was identified and destroyed at various locations, including Khandah, Tehsil BK Pora in Budgam district.
Officials, as per an official statement, informed that FIRs were lodged under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the concerned Police Stations. All legal formalities, seizure, sampling and on-spot destruction of the illicit crop, were completed as per procedure.
In this connection, Case, FIR No. 60/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation has been taken up.
The Excise Department reiterated its commitment towards curbing the illegal cultivation and trafficking of narcotic substances and ensuring strict enforcement of the law. The department said that such drives will continue across the region to eradicate narcotic crop cultivation and safeguard society from the menace of drug abuse.
The enforcement action was carried out under the supervision of the Excise Commissioner and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Kashmir.
