BANDIPORA, MAY 22: Awareness and outreach activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) continued across district Bandipora on Friday with debate competitions, discussion sessions, parent-teacher meetings, sports activities and awareness programmes organised at various educational institutions.

Educational institutions including HSS Budoab, HS Panar, Govt HSS PTL Gurez, GHS Naidkhai, GHS Nadihal, HS Koragbal, H/S Ketson, HS Malangam Tulail, Govt Boys High School Garoora, HSS Nowgam, PM SHRI HSS Shadipora, HSS Quilmuqam, PM SHRI GHS Odina and HS Wanpora conducted different activities under the NMBA action plan focusing on peer pressure awareness, positive decision-making, youth engagement and prevention of substance abuse.

At Govt HSS PTL Gurez, a debate and discussion programme on the theme “Peer Pressure” was organised under Day-33 of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan by Shahjahan Sheikh.

Similar debate sessions on ‘peer pressure’ were conducted at GHS Naidkhai, HSS Nowgam, PM SHRI HSS Shadipora, HSS Quilmuqam and Govt Boys High School Garoora, where students actively participated and expressed their views on the positive and negative impacts of peer pressure.

At GHS Naidkhai, Teachers highlighted how positive peer pressure could motivate students towards discipline, education and good habits, while negative peer pressure could lead youth towards addiction and harmful activities. Students were encouraged to make wise decisions, choose good company and remain committed towards a healthy and drug-free life.

PM SHRI HSS Shadipora organised interactive sessions, role plays and critical thinking exercises aimed at equipping students with tools to handle peer pressure and avoid substance abuse. The programme concluded with students taking a pledge for a clean, healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) were also organised at HS Koragbal, HS Malangam Tulail and PM SHRI GHS Odina. During the meetings, teachers and parents discussed the academic performance, discipline, mental well-being, moral values and overall personality development of students. At PM SHRI GHS Odina, parents were also guided regarding registration on the JK Parent Plus platform for better communication and student monitoring.

Meanwhile, sports and extracurricular activities were organised at several institutions to promote healthy lifestyles among students. At HS Wanpora, a basketball match was organised under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, where students were encouraged to stay away from drugs and adopt positive and healthy activities through sports.

The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, parents and staff members across the district, reflecting the continued commitment of educational institutions towards strengthening awareness and preventive outreach under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
