Traffic restrictions today in Shopian for mega Padyatra

Srinagar, May 22: Authorities have announced major traffic restrictions and diversions in Shopian town in view of a Mega Rally (Padyatra) being organised on May 23 (Saturday) as part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign.

According to an advisory issued by the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Rural Kashmir, vehicular movement from Balpora Crossing up to Old Bus Stand via Jahangir Chowk Shopian will remain completely suspended from 4:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the event.

Officials said that the restrictions have been imposed to ensure smooth conduct of the rally and maintain public safety during the large gathering expected in the town.

Motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel within Shopian town during the scheduled hours and follow the designated diversion routes to prevent congestion and inconvenience.

As per the advisory, traffic coming from Poonch and Rajouri towards Herpora, Pulwama and Srinagar will be diverted through Old Bus Stand, Tak Mohalla, Sangloo, Habdipora, Pinjura and Trenz before proceeding towards Pulwama and Srinagar.

Similarly, vehicles travelling from Srinagar and Pulwama towards Shopian, Poonch and Rajouri will be redirected via Keegam, Mispora, Udoora, Trenz, Pinjura, Habdipora, Sangloo and Tak Mohalla through Kanipora before reaching Herpora.

Authorities further stated that vehicles heading towards Pulwama from Shadab Karewa, Zawoora, Manloo and Narpora areas will move through Kralchak, Rajpora and Tiken towards Pulwama, and the same route will remain applicable for return traffic.

In view of public convenience, special arrangements have also been made for emergency services. Vehicles ferrying medical emergencies from Herpora, Imamsahib, Zainpora and Trenz areas will be allowed movement through Sangloo and Bonbazaar towards District Hospital Shopian.

Traffic officials urged the public to cooperate with the administration and strictly adhere to the advisory to ensure smooth movement and successful conduct of the anti-drug awareness rally—(KNO)
