BANDIPORA, JUNE 03: Various educational institutions across Bandipora on Tuesday organized awareness programmes under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among youth.

At HKM Govt Degree College Bandipora, the NCORD Cell in collaboration with the Department of Kashmiri organized an Interaction-cum-Counselling Session on “Drugs and Their Negative Impact on Society.” Speakers highlighted the social, psychological, and health-related consequences of substance abuse and encouraged students to make informed and responsible life choices.

The programme, as per an official statement, was organized under the guidance of Prof. Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Convener NCORD Cell. A pledge ceremony was also organized by the Red Ribbon Youth Club in collaboration with the Department of Botany, where students reaffirmed their commitment towards a drug-free society.

Meanwhile, the NCC Youth Club of HKM Government Degree College Bandipora organized counselling interaction sessions with students appearing in mid-term examinations under the guidance of Dr. Nasarul Islam, CTO NCC Unit. Students were sensitized about the physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of drug addiction and motivated to adopt a disciplined and healthy lifestyle.

At Government Degree College Sumbal, a Walkathon and Essay Writing Competition were organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, Principal of the College, as part of the ongoing NMBA activities.

The programmes were organized by the NMBA Committee under the convenorship of Ajaz Ur Rehman. Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the walkathon, while students from different semesters took part in the essay writing competition, highlighting the social and psychological impact of substance abuse and the importance of collective efforts in building a drug-free society.
