J&K Bank CSR empowers 5 PwDs with Rs 7.78 Lakh assistive devices

Baramulla, June 06: A distribution camp for the free distribution of aids and assistive devices among identified Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) was organized on Saturday at Dak Bungalow Baramulla under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of J&K Bank.

 

The camp was organized by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Mohali Unit, under the aegis of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, in collaboration with the District Administration Baramulla and the Social Welfare Department.

 

MLA Baramulla, Javid Hassan Baig and MLA Wagoora-Kreeri, Irfan Hafiz Lone attended the programme along with Chief Manager J&K Bank, Basharat Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla, Sajad Ahmad Bhat, TSWO Rafiabad Bharat Bhushan, TSWO Baramulla, Tanveer Kaur, and officials from ALIMCO.

 

A total of 65 pre-identified beneficiaries from Baramulla received 102 aids and assistive devices worth approximately ₹7.78 lakh. The beneficiaries had been identified and registered during a special assessment camp conducted by ALIMCO in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department Baramulla in June 2025.

 

The devices distributed included 8 motorized tricycles, 10 tricycles, 11 wheelchairs, 3 wheelchairs with commode, 24 hearing aids, 9 walking sticks, 6 crutches, 2 rollators, 6 Sugamya canes, 3 smartphones, 10 knee braces, 3 LS belts, and 6 calipers.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of such initiatives in enhancing mobility, accessibility, and independence for persons with disabilities. They appreciated the efforts of J&K Bank, ALIMCO, and the Social Welfare Department in extending support to PwDs and promoting their inclusion and empowerment.

 

Officials from the District Administration, J&K Bank, ALIMCO, and the Social Welfare Department were also present on the occasion.
