KULGAM, JUNE 06: As part of the ongoing Khet Bachao Abhiyan, a farmers’ awareness and outreach programme was organized Saturday at Block Pahloo in District Kulgam.

The programme, as per an official statement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers representing various villages of the block.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, presided over the event as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, the DC underscored the importance of protecting agricultural land and adopting scientific farming practices to ensure sustainable agricultural development and food security.

He emphasized the need for collective efforts to preserve cultivable land, prevent its conversion, and enhance agricultural productivity for the welfare and prosperity of the farming community.

During the programme, officers of the Agriculture Department sensitized farmers about the objectives of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan, including the protection of agricultural land from degradation, promotion of sustainable farming practices, efficient utilization of natural resources, and adoption of modern agricultural technologies. Farmers were also encouraged to avail themselves of various government schemes and programmes aimed at enhancing farm productivity and income.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Agriculture Officer reiterated the department’s commitment to providing technical guidance and necessary support to farmers for increasing agricultural production and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the farming sector.

The programme concluded with an interactive session during which farmers shared their experiences, concerns, and suggestions regarding agricultural development in the area.

The programme was attended by the Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam, District Agriculture Officer Kulgam, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Qaimoh, Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Kilam, field functionaries of the Agriculture Department, and a large number of progressive farmers from different villages of Block Pahloo.
