SRINAGAR, JUNE 06: Social Welfare Department (SWD)-SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women Srinagar   organized a programme on the integration of out-of-school adolescent girls into various skill development initiatives, aimed at empowering young girls through vocational training and enhancing their opportunities for self-reliance and socio-economic development at Mustafad, Fruitmandi Srinagar on Saturday.

The programme, as per an official statement was attended by officials of SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women Srinagar and out of school adolescent girls from different areas of the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the officials from SANKALP-HEW Srinagar highlighted the importance of equipping out-of-school adolescent girls with market-relevant skills to improve their employability and livelihood prospects. Emphasis was laid on identifying vulnerable and marginalized girls and facilitating their enrolment in skill development courses aligned with their interests and local employment opportunities.

The participants were sensitized about various government-sponsored skilling programmes, vocational training opportunities, and support mechanisms available for adolescent girls. Interactive sessions were also conducted to address challenges faced by out-of-school girls and to encourage their active participation in skill enhancement initiatives.

The programme forms part of the Department’s continued efforts to promote inclusive development, gender empowerment, and social protection by ensuring that no adolescent girl is left behind in accessing education, training, and livelihood opportunities.

The Department reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening convergence with relevant stakeholders and expanding the reach of skilling programmes to enable adolescent girls to become confident, productive, and economically independent members of society.
