Kangan, Jun 08: The two-day 130th annual Urs of revered Sufi saint Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA) concluded on Monday at Baba Nagri Wangath in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district amid a massive gathering of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country.

The religious congregation witnessed an overwhelming influx of pilgrims who offered special prayers for peace, prosperity, brotherhood, communal harmony and the well-being of humanity. Devotees from Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Surankote, Kalakote, Uri, Pahalgam, Bandipora, Kokernag, Kulgam, Kishtwar, Punjab, Ludhiana, Doda, Shopian, Kupwara and several regions of Jammu, besides visitors from outside Jammu and Kashmir, attended the annual congregation.

The concluding ceremony was marked by an emotionally charged and spiritually uplifting atmosphere, with night-long prayers, Qur’an recitations, Durood-o-Azkaar and the Khitab al-Mu’azzamat, one of the major sermons of the Urs.

A devotee from Poonch, Irshad said that they travel to Baba Nagri every year to seek blessings and spiritual guidance.

“The atmosphere here strengthens our faith and promotes the message of peace and brotherhood,” he said.

Another devotee from Rajouri, Mughal Javid, said the teachings of Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA) continue to unite people from different regions. “We pray for peace, prosperity and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Addressing the gathering, Sajjada Nashin Mian Altaf Ahmad – senior National Conference leader and the Member of Parliament  – highlighted the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and stressed the need for communal harmony, moral values and social responsibility. “Any household afflicted by drug abuse is doomed to collective suffering. Our youth must stay away from this menace and embrace spirituality, education and service to society,” he said.

Paying tribute to Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA), Mian Altaf said the revered saint dedicated his life to human service, scholarship and spiritual enlightenment, leaving behind a legacy that continues to guide generations. “The message of Baba Ji Sahab is one of love, unity, compassion and selfless service. We must carry forward these teachings in our daily lives and strengthen bonds of brotherhood,” he said.

On the concluding day, a joint prayer was held in which thousands of devotees prayed for lasting peace, prosperity and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir and across the country.

Mian Altaf also expressed gratitude to the district administration and other departments for making elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Urs, noting that the annual congregation continues to witness a steady rise in attendance, reflecting the growing devotion of people towards the teachings of the revered saint.

Several prominent Islamic scholars also addressed the gathering and shed light on the life, teachings and spiritual legacy of Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA).

Organisers had made adequate arrangements for food and accommodation for the large number of pilgrims attending the event. Later, three books on the life, teachings and spiritual legacy of Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA) were released during a special ceremony attended by religious scholars and prominent guests—(KNO)
