IGNOU admissions begin for July 2026 session across Kashmir, Ladakh

Srinagar, June 10: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has commenced the admission process for the July 2026 session for its Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Programmes across Kashmir Valley and Ladakh.

Admissions, as per PIB statement, are being offered in more than 300 Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate, Diploma and PG Diploma programmes through 30 study centres functioning under the IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar. Applicants can apply online through the University website at IGNOU Official Website or directly through the admission portal at IGNOU Admission Portal.

Before filling the admission form, applicants are required to create a User ID and Password on the SAMARTH portal and keep ready their mobile number, email ID, scanned academic documents, photograph, APAAR ID and online payment facilities. Candidates have been advised to use their own mobile numbers and email IDs during registration and preserve their login credentials for future use.

IGNOU has introduced several new academic programmes including Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) in Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Social Work, Philosophy, Biochemistry and Facilities & Service Management. New programmes also include M.Sc. in Climate Change, PG Diploma in Climate Change and Certificate Programme in Criminal Justice Social Work.

Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar, Dr. A.H. Rizvi, advised prospective learners to complete the admission process well before the deadline. He also cautioned students against fraudulent calls or messages seeking payment through QR codes, WhatsApp or social media platforms, stating that IGNOU accepts payments only through its official online portals.

The last date for submission of online admission forms has been fixed as July 15, 2026. IGNOU has also informed that re-registration for July 2026 session for learners enrolled in ODL and Online programmes is currently underway. Students enrolled in second and subsequent years or semesters have been advised to complete re-registration before June 30, 2026 to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
