BUDGAM, JUNE 10: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), various departments and stakeholders across district Budgam have intensified awareness, outreach and preventive activities to combat drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society.

A series of awareness programmes, as per an official statement, community interactions and sensitization campaigns were conducted at different locations across the district to educate the public, particularly youth, about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

Participants were informed about the social, psychological and economic consequences of drug addiction and the importance of adopting a healthy and productive lifestyle.

The campaign also focused on generating awareness regarding the provisions of the NDPS Act, prevention of illicit cultivation of narcotic crops and the role of community participation in curbing the menace of drug abuse. Officials emphasized the need for collective efforts involving government departments, educational institutions, civil society organizations, parents and community leaders to safeguard the younger generation from the dangers of addiction.

During the programmes, participants pledged to support the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and actively contribute towards creating awareness in their respective communities.

The District Administration Budgam reiterated its commitment to strengthening preventive, awareness and enforcement measures under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and urged all sections of society to join hands in building a safer, healthier and drug-free district.

The campaign will continue across the district through coordinated efforts of line departments and stakeholders to ensure sustained public awareness and community engagement against drug abuse.
