SRINAGAR, JUNE 13: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, the Cultural Unit Kashmir of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Saturday organised an awareness programme at Government High School (GHS) Chattabal aimed at sensitising students about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

The programme, as per an official statement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who took part in a symposium highlighting the need for collective action against substance abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society.

On the occasion, artists of the DIPR’s Cultural Unit presented a thematic short play depicting the devastating consequences of drug addiction on individuals, families and society. The performance effectively conveyed the message of prevention, awareness and social responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Exhibition and Cultural Officer (AECO), Cultural Unit Kashmir, Syed Shakeel Shan, said that the 100-day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan has now transformed into a people’s movement with active participation from all sections of society. He said that DIPR is actively playing its role in spreading awareness through cultural programmes and public outreach initiatives across the Valley.

The Principal of GHS Chattabal appreciated the efforts of the Cultural Unit Kashmir and thanked DIPR for organising the programme. He stressed the importance of sustained awareness campaigns to protect the younger generation from the menace of drug abuse.

Students and teachers also hailed DIPR’s endeavour in promoting awareness through informative and engaging cultural activities, and reiterated their commitment towards supporting the vision of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

The programme concluded with a pledge by participants to contribute towards making society free from the scourge of drugs.
