Development works, flood rehabilitation measures reviewed

KISHTWAR, JUNE 13: Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Vinod Kumar Behnal conducted a two-day tour of Sub-Division Marwah, during which a series of public outreach programmes were held in Warwan to strengthen public engagement, review developmental activities and assess flood rehabilitation measures in the area.

As part of the tour, public darbars were organised at Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) Warwan and later at Margi, Warwan.

The programmes, as per an official statement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, who projected various developmental demands and grievances before the ADDC. Several issues were addressed on the spot, while the departments concerned were directed to take immediate measures for the resolution of remaining grievances.

The ADDC also chaired a comprehensive review meeting with officers of different departments to assess the implementation of ongoing developmental programmes and welfare schemes. Stressing the importance of efficient governance, he directed the officers to ensure timely delivery of public services and expeditious execution of development projects in the region.

The ADDC further inspected several ongoing developmental works being executed by the Rural Development Department (RDD), PMGSY, PWD (R&B) and other departments. He reviewed the progress and quality of the projects and instructed the executing agencies to adhere to prescribed standards and complete the works within stipulated timelines.

The ADDC subsequently visited the flood-affected Margi area, which had suffered extensive damage during last year’s floods. He interacted with affected families, assessed the situation on the ground and reviewed the status of rehabilitation and restoration measures. Residents apprised him of various issues requiring immediate attention.

A public hearing was also conducted at Margi, where locals highlighted concerns related to infrastructure, public services and rehabilitation. The ADDC listened to the grievances of the people of Margi and assured them of all possible assistance from the District Administration, adding that all genuine demands would be taken up with the departments concerned and addressed on priority.

Among those accompanying the ADDC were SDM Dr Mohammad Ashraf; DSWO Tariq Parveaz Qazi; DFO Vishal Chaudhary; BDO Irshad Ahmed Waza; Executive Engineer PMGSY Tilak Rajwal; Executive Engineer PWD Mohd Farooq; DNO AYUSH Dr Vikram Singh Jamwal; AD Planning RDD; AEE Jal Shakti and other officers and staff concerned.
