DC Shopian reviews progress under PM Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana, RDSS

SHOPIAN, JUNE 15: Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shishir Gupta, Monday chaired a review meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian to assess the progress achieved under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the district.

During the meeting, the DC undertook a comprehensive review of the physical and financial progress of various components being implemented under the schemes and sought updates from officers of KPDCL, Power Grid Corporation, executing agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Reviewing the status of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the DC emphasized the need for accelerating registrations and installations across the district. He directed the concerned officers and field functionaries to intensify awareness campaigns and ensure that eligible households are informed about the benefits of the scheme.

The DC also directed the concerned agencies to expedite the process of rooftop solar installations and ensure that all pending inspections and technical formalities are completed within the prescribed timelines to avoid delays in execution.

The progress of works being executed under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), including smart metering and power infrastructure augmentation, was reviewed in detail. The DC stressed the importance of ensuring timely installation of smart meters and directed the concerned agencies to address all technical and operational issues on priority. He underscored the need for maintaining quality standards and ensuring seamless functioning of installed meters for improved consumer services and transparency.

Emphasizing the importance of strengthening the power distribution network in the district, the DC directed the executing agencies to adhere strictly to project timelines and ensure close coordination among all stakeholders for smooth implementation of RDSS components.

During the meeting, issues and concerns raised by vendors and executing agencies were also discussed. The DC assured all possible support from the district administration and directed the concerned departments to facilitate prompt resolution of bottlenecks hindering the progress of works.

The DC further stressed the importance of regular monitoring, effective coordination, and submission of progress reports to ensure the successful implementation of all power sector initiatives in the district.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone; ADC Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; Superintending Engineer KPDCL O&M Circle Shoploian/Pulwa lma; ACR Shopian; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Zainapora; Executive Engineer KPDCL Division Shopian along with AEEs and AEs; Lead District Manager Shopian; representatives of executing agencies and vendors associated with PM Surya Ghar Scheme, besides other concerned officers.
