Mufti enactor of AFSPA: Sakina Itoo

Pulwama, Jun 19: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Sakina Masood Ittoo, on Friday said that late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was the enactor of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

Sakina said  that Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was responsible for the imposition of AFSPA in Jammu & Kashmir.

“If AFSPA is continuing in Jammu and Kashmir, who enacted it? It was Mufti Muhammad Sayeed,” she said.

She added that AFSPA was introduced when Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was the Home Minister.

Slamming the PDP for its politics over private member bills, Sakina questioned why they did not bring such bills when they were in power.

“Why didn’t you bring these bills in 2014 and 2018 when you were in alliance with the BJP?” she asked, adding that the PDP is doing this only to gain sympathy, but people are aware of their designs.

She further said that the National Conference stands with farmers and that they cannot be evicted from the land they have possessed for decades.

“Nobody can evict farmers from land which has been in their possession for over 50 years,” she said, adding that the government stands firmly with farmers.

She, however, added that theatrics of planting paddy saplings will not work—(KNO)
