Budgam, Jun 29: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Monday said that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are the pillars of India’s democratic framework and reaffirmed that the country’s electoral process is among the most transparent in the world.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an interaction with Booth Level Officers at NIFT Budgam, the CEC said the Election Commission held detailed discussions with BLOs regarding various aspects of the electoral process.

“Today, we engaged in a dialogue with the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of Budgam—the pillars of our democracy. We discussed the fact that our electoral process is among the most transparent in the world. Every stage, from the preparation of electoral rolls to the actual voting and the counting of votes, is subject to concurrent auditing by political parties and candidates,” Kumar said.

He said India’s electoral system has earned global recognition for its transparency and credibility. “Observing this robust Indian electoral process, it is noteworthy that India currently leads the major democratic nations of the world and holds the chairmanship of International IDEA,” he added.

The Chief Election Commissioner also extended his greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and acknowledged the efforts of election officials involved in conducting free and fair polls.

“Through you, I extend my greetings to all the voters of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as to all the BLOs, BLO Supervisors, Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and District Election Officers (DEOs),” he said—(KNO)
