Srinagar, Jun 30: The Northern Railway has curtailed the operation of the Vistadome Special train for two months in view of security arrangements for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY).
An official said that Vistadome train which normally operates between Katra to Budgam Railway stations, will run only between Banihal to Budgam from July 1 to August 31, 2026 or till further orders.
The official said the decision has been taken following security inputs and recommendations from the Jammu and Kashmir Police to facilitate smooth conduct of the pilgrimage and effective crowd management during the Yatra.
He said the Vistadome service will continue to operate on the Banihal–Budgam section, while train operations on the Katra–Banihal stretch will remain suspended during the two-month period.
Known for its panoramic glass coaches offering scenic views of the Kashmir Valley, the Vistadome Special is a popular attraction among tourists. The arrangement will be reviewed after the conclusion of the Yatra, the official added—(KNO)
