HADP: Horticulture Department organises awareness camp at Panchayat Dhanu

JAMMU, JULY 07: The Department of Horticulture organized a comprehensive awareness camp at Panchayat Dhanu under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

The programme was chaired by Director Horticulture Jammu Gul Syed.

Among others present were Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu Rakesh Kotwal, Chief Scientist, KVK Jammu, Dr. Puneet Choudhary, DLSMS Vishal Magotra, Rakesh Kumar Bhagat, Horticulture Development Officer Bhalwal Ravinder Kumar along with officials and field staff of the Department.

During the awareness camp, farmers and orchardists, as per an official statement, were sensitized about various developmental schemes being implemented by the Department, including HADP, ATMA, CSS and RMHDP.

Detailed information was provided regarding financial assistance, modern horticulture practices, establishment of orchards, protected cultivation and other farmer-oriented initiatives. The experts also highlighted the importance of value addition to horticultural produce, emphasizing processing, packaging, branding and marketing to enhance farmers’ income and generate employment opportunities.

The participants appreciated the initiative and actively interacted with the experts, seeking guidance on adopting modern horticulture technologies and availing benefits under different government schemes.
