KATHUA, JULY 07: The maiden meeting of the District AYUSH Society was held Tuesday under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kathua, Surinder Mohan Sharma to review the functioning of AYUSH institutions, infrastructure development and implementation of key programmes in the district.
District AYUSH Officer Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vijay Raina, Assistant Commissioner Development Akhil Sadotra, District Panchayat Officer Amir Chaudhary, Medical Officer Dr. Deepak Sharma and other members attended the meeting.
The District AYUSH Officer presented the district AYUSH profile and highlighted the existing infrastructure and services. It was informed that AYUSH healthcare is being delivered through 57 institutions, including 42 Ayush Arogya Mandirs, promoting preventive and holistic healthcare across the district.
The meeting, as per an official statement, reviewed activities under the AYUSH Public Health Programme, including Yoga and specialised Ayurvedic initiatives such as Supraja, Vayo Mitra, Ayur Vidya and Karunya. It was also informed that specialist Ayurvedic procedures are being performed at GMC Kathua.
Reviewing infrastructure projects, the meeting was informed that the 50-bedded AYUSH Hospital at Mandli, Billawar is nearing completion and is likely to be dedicated to the public in September this year. Construction of an Ayurvedic Dispensary at Bhanode is also underway.
The ADDC stressed the need to popularize Ayurveda and Yoga to encourage healthy lifestyles. He directed the concerned agencies to ensure timely completion of all ongoing AYUSH projects and strengthen public outreach for greater awareness of traditional healthcare practices.
