SRINAGAR, JULY 09: MLA Rajpora, Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, MLA Uri, Dr Sajad Shafi and MLA Pampore, Hasnain Masoodi, Thursday called on Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, at the Civil Secretariat here.
During the meeting, the MLAs, as per an official statement, apprised the Minister in detail of the pending public grievances and developmental requirements of their respective constituencies. Issues raised included augmentation and restoration of drinking water supply schemes, repair and maintenance of damaged irrigation channels, protection concerns related to forest land and long-pending demands for strengthening of flood control infrastructure in vulnerable areas.
MLA Rajpora, Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, drew attention to irrigation and drainage-related issues in his constituency and urged the intervention of the Minister.
MLA Uri, Dr Sajad Shafi, highlighted the need for early completion of water supply augmentation works in his constituency while MLA Pampore, Hasnain Masoodi, raised concerns pertaining to environmental degradation and sought the Minister’s intervention for early redressal of public grievances related to his constituency.
Responding to the concerns raised, Javed Rana assured the MLAs that all genuine demands would be taken up on priority and resolved in a time-bound manner. “The Omar Abdullah government is committed to ensure that no genuine grievance of the people goes unaddressed. Public service and grassroots development remain our foremost priority and we will leave no stone unturned in reaching out to every constituency,” the Minister said.
Emphasising the need for timely execution of works in all constituencies, Rana directed the concerned officers to resolve all pending issues in a time-bound manner to ensure that developmental projects do not suffer delays.
He stated that his department has already initiated action on several demands raised by public representatives in recent months. He said the officers have been directed to expedite the pending works and furnish periodic compliance reports. “Development works once approved must reach completion without unnecessary delay. I have asked the concerned engineers and officers to personally monitor progress on the ground and ensure accountability at every level,” he added.
The MLAs expressed confidence that the issues raised would receive early attention, benefiting the people of Rajpora, Uri and Pampore constituencies.
