Unveil multi-crore relief package as immediate relief to affected

Rajouri, Jul 21: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana accompanied by Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Transport, Information Technology, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Science & Technology, ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma on Tuesday visited Rajouri to review the flood situation, inspect relief measures, and assess the restoration of essential services in the district.

The Ministers visited the Relief and Rehabilitation Centre established at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS), Rajouri, where they interacted with the families shifted to the centre. They enquired about their well-being and reviewed the facilities being provided by the District Administration, including accommodation, food, drinking water, healthcare and other essential services.

Later, the Ministers held a high-level review meeting attended by MLAs, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, and senior district and sectoral officers to assess the overall situation and review the ongoing relief, rescue and restoration efforts.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner briefed the Ministers about the prevailing ground situation, relief measures undertaken by the district administration, restoration of water supply and other essential services, and the immediate requirements for rehabilitation in the flood-affected areas.

After reviewing the requirements, the Ministers announced immediate support for strengthening the water supply infrastructure and restoring essential services.

Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Rana announced the establishment of 20 minor water supply schemes at an estimated cost of ₹15 lakh each (₹3 crore), provision of transformers for 10 water supply locations at an estimated cost of ₹1 crore, 1,000 water storage crates at an estimated cost of ₹1 crore, procurement of five dewatering pumps costing approximately ₹2.5 lakh, provision of five 125 KVA generator sets at an estimated cost of ₹50 lakh, and ₹4 crore for the restoration of damaged water supply schemes. The Minister stated that these interventions would provide immediate relief to the affected population and help restore essential public services at the earliest.

The Ministers appreciated the prompt response and dedicated efforts of the District Administration under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, along with all line departments, in carrying out rescue operations, providing relief to affected families, and ensuring the restoration of essential services despite challenging conditions.

The meeting was attended by all district and sectoral officers, who also presented updates on the status of relief operations and restoration works in their respective departments.
