DODA, AUGUST 07: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda Krishan Lal Friday chaired a meeting of the District Level Inter-Departmental Coordination Committee to review the implementation of the Civil Registration System (CRS) for Birth and Death Registration in the district.

The meeting, as per an official statement, was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Programme Officer ICDS, District Statistics & Evaluation Officer (DSEO), Chief Education Officer (CEO), Block Medical Officers (BMOs), Block Development Officers (BDOs), Executive Officers of Municipality and other concerned officers.

The District Statistics & Evaluation Officer delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the implementation of the Central Registration System (CRS). The presentation covered the registration process, prescribed timelines for birth and death registration, digitization of old birth and death records and issues related to delayed registration.

Reviewing the implementation, the DDC emphasized the importance of creating widespread public awareness regarding the timely registration of births and deaths. He directed the concerned departments to intensify awareness campaigns to encourage timely registration of birth and death.

The DDC also stressed the need to digitize old birth and death records at the earliest to facilitate easy access to certificates through the online system. He called for strengthening coordination among all stakeholder departments to ensure effective implementation of the Central Registration System.

Highlighting the importance of citizen-centric service delivery, the DDC directed the concerned officers to make the registration process more active, transparent and public-friendly.

He instructed that no unnecessary hurdles should be faced by the public while obtaining birth and death certificates and that all genuine cases should be processed promptly in accordance with the prescribed norms.

Furthermore, various bottlenecks and issues in the implementation of the Civil Registration System were discussed during the meeting. The DDC directed the concerned officers to resolve these issues, improve coordination among departments, simplify the registration process and ensure timely and hassle-free registration of births and deaths across the district.
