CHRAR-I-SHARIEF, AUGUST 10: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, Monday undertook an extensive tour of Wanpora, Qazipora Takiya Hayatpora and Sarie areas of the Chrar-i-Sharief constituency to take stock of ongoing developmental works.

He interacted with the people to understand their development needs and concerns.

During the visit, the Speaker, as per an official statement, visited different locations across the areas and reviewed the progress of developmental activities being undertaken there. He emphasised on improving road connectivity, strengthening infrastructure and addressing the long-pending demands of the people.

A major highlight of the visit was the launching of macadamisation work on the Wanpora link roads. The project is expected to significantly improve the condition of the existing road network, provide smoother and safer connectivity to the residents and facilitate better access to adjoining areas.

Abdul Rahim Rather stressed that proper quality should be maintained during the execution of the macadamisation work so that the roads provide durable and long-term benefits to the people.

The Speaker also visited various spots where bridges have been proposed for construction and took an on-the-spot assessment of the requirements. He examined the locations and discussed the proposed works with the concerned engineers and local representatives. The importance of bridge infrastructure is essential for improving connectivity particularly for residents who face difficulties during adverse weather conditions. He announced that bridge on Takiya Nagam – Hayatpora- Dalwan road and bridge on Wanpora- Sarie road will be taken up at a cost of Rs 2 crore and Rs 80 lakh respectively.

Abdul Rahim Rather interacted with the local residents at Qazipora and listened to their concerns and demands. The people apprised him of various issues related to roads, connectivity and other basic infrastructure requirements.

The Speaker assured them that their genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate and timely action. He said Mukhadam Mohalla and Dooninar link roads in Qazipora will  be macadamised soon. He called upon the concerned authorities to maintain close coordination and ensure that approved works are completed within the stipulated timelines without compromising on quality.

The Speaker said that better road connectivity and robust infrastructure are essential for socio-economic development of rural areas, as improved connectivity not only facilitates the movement of people but also provides better access to educational institutions, healthcare facilities, markets and other essential services.

During the tour, the Speaker maintained that every effort would be made to ensure equitable development and address infrastructure-related issues on priority.

The Speaker directed the concerned departments to remain responsive to public concerns and work in a coordinated manner to improve and upgrade public amenities in the constituency.
