Man killed, pillion rider injured in Hajin road accident

Bandipora, Aug 19: A 30-year-old man was killed while his pillion rider was injured after the motorcycle they were travelling on was hit by an unknown vehicle at Main Market Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday, officials said.

An official said that the duo were travelling on a motorcycle when an unknown vehicle hit them at Main Market Hajin.

He said both sustained injuries and were initially shifted to SDH Sumbal, from where they were referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment.

The official said that upon arrival at SKIMS Soura, doctors declared one of them brought dead, while the other is undergoing treatment.

The deceased was later identified as Yawar Ahmad Mir (30), son of Mohammad Altaf Mir, a resident of Sumbanora, Bandipora, while his injured pillion rider was identified as Abdul Rashid Makroo (45), son of Abdul Rehman Makroo, a resident of Sudnara, Bandipora.
