“GOC Mishra undertook a comprehensive review of the operational environment and interacted with troops and various stakeholders deployed in the forward areas.
He also took stock of the security situation, operational preparedness measures and the readiness of formations operating in the challenging mountainous terrain of the Poonch Sector, where troops remain deployed under demanding weather and operational conditions,” the statement said, adding, “During his interaction with personnel, the Corps Commander commended the troops for their high morale, professionalism and operational readiness. He appreciated their dedication and commitment in maintaining constant vigilance and ensuring the security of the area.”
He also emphasised the need to sustain high standards of operational preparedness, continuously enhance operational capabilities and remain prepared to effectively respond to emerging security challenges, the statement said.
Pertinently, the Poonch Sector, located along the LoC in the Jammu region, remains a strategically important operational area due to its rugged terrain and history of cross-border hostilities, including ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts. (KNO)
