Srinagar, Aug 24: Social Welfare Department, SANKALP-HEW Srinagar organised an Open-End Discussion on Ending stigma on Menstruation at Islamia College of Science and Technology, Hawal, Srinagar, with the objective of promoting awareness, understanding and open dialogue on menstrual health and hygiene.
The interactive programme provided a platform for students and participants to openly discuss various aspects related to menstruation, including menstrual hygiene, health concerns, common misconceptions and the importance of maintaining proper hygiene practices.
The discussion also focused on encouraging young people to approach menstruation as a natural biological process and to help create an environment where menstrual health can be discussed without stigma or hesitation.
Officials from Department of Social Welfare SANKALP-HEW Srinagar interacted with the participants and addressed their queries, while emphasising the importance of awareness, access to reliable information and supportive social attitudes towards menstrual health.
On the occasion, certificates were distributed among the students who participated in the debate in recognition of their active participation and contribution to the programme.
The Department stated that such awareness programmes are an important step towards empowering young people with correct information and fostering a more informed and sensitive society.
The programme concluded with an interactive exchange of views and questions from the participants, reflecting the importance of continued dialogue and awareness on menstrual health and hygiene.
