Secy I&B reviews functioning of media units at Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 10: Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Chanchal Kumar, IAS on Thursday reviewed the functioning of various media units of the Ministry at Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar. Representatives and officials of Doordarshan, Akashvani, Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) participated in the review meeting.

 

The Secretary reviewed the news and programme content of Akashvani and Doordarshan and the campaigns and outreach activities undertaken by PIB and CBC. He expressed satisfaction over the overall functioning of the media units.

 

Emphasising stronger digital outreach, the Secretary stressed on strengthening social media presence and audience engagement, particularly on Instagram, and called for creation of engaging, audience-friendly video content on digital platforms.

 

The media units were advised to undertake aggressive and sustained campaigning under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and strengthen Swachhata campaigns through news, programmes, social media and outreach activities.

 

The Secretary also stressed better coordination and synchronisation among all media units for effective dissemination and greater public outreach.

 

The meeting was attended by heads and senior officials of Doordarshan, Akashvani, PIB and CBC Srinagar, besides other officers and employees associated with the media units of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
