DODA, SEPTEMBER 26: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Krishan Lal Saturday inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) organised by Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Doda with the objective of generating awareness among youth about apprenticeship, on-the-job training and employment opportunities.
The event was attended by District Nodal Officer NAPS Ashfaq Khanji; Chief Planning Officer Manesh Kumar; Principal Government ITI Ajay Kumar; Functional Manager DIC; Employment Officer; representatives from the Labour Department and Government Polytechnic, besides ITI trainees, pass-out trainees and representatives of participating establishments.
The Mela witnessed enthusiastic participation from ITI trainees, pass-out trainees and aspiring candidates, besides representatives from various establishments. More than 150 candidates were registered on the National Apprenticeship Portal, while 16 apprenticeship contracts were generated on the spot.
A dedicated Apprenticeship Help Desk was established at the venue, where candidates were assisted with registration, documentation and queries related to apprenticeship engagement. The representatives from the participating establishments interacted with the candidates and provided information regarding the apprenticeship opportunities, workplace requirements and the process of engagement.
Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the importance of apprenticeship in bridging the gap between technical education and practical workplace requirements. He encouraged ITI trainees and pass-out trainees to actively avail themselves of apprenticeship opportunities for enhancing their skills, gaining practical workplace exposure and improving their employability.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts being made in District Doda towards strengthening the apprenticeship ecosystem, particularly the registration of more than 4,000 candidates and 812 establishments on the National Apprenticeship Portal.
Earlier, ITI head Ajay Kumar welcomed the Chief Guest and participants. He underlined the importance of apprenticeship as an effective pathway for skill enhancement, workplace exposure and transition from technical training to employment.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by ITI Training Incharge Raiees Ahmad. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, participating departments, establishments and candidates for their valuable contribution towards the successful conduct of the PMNAM.
