ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 01: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Anantnag, along with the Taluka Legal Services Committees (TLSCs) of District Anantnag, observed the International Day of Older Persons Thursday, with the objective of promoting awareness regarding the rights, welfare and well-being of senior citizens.

As part of the observance, health camps were organised at various locations by DLSA Anantnag and its TLSCs, wherein older persons were provided basic health check-ups and health-related guidance.

The participating senior citizens were also sensitised about the importance of regular health care and maintaining a healthy and dignified life.

During the programmes, awareness was also created regarding the legal rights and entitlements of older persons, including the availability of free legal services through DLSA/TLSCs and the assistance that may be availed by eligible persons under the legal services framework.

The programmes witnessed participation of senior citizens, officials, PLVs and other stakeholders. The observance reaffirmed the commitment of DLSA Anantnag and its TLSCs towards safeguarding the rights, dignity and welfare of older persons and ensuring their access to legal and support services.
