Srinagar, Oct 10: Defending champions Jammu and Kashmir will begin their Ranji Trophy title defence against Madhya Pradesh at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar on Sunday, with captain Paras Dogra set to lead the 15-member squad in the four-day opening-round clash.

The match scheduled from October 11 to 14 marks J&K’s first fixture of the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season, with the home side looking to start its campaign on a winning note.

The squad comprises Shubham Khajuria, Qamran Iqbal, Yawer Hassan, Shubham Pundir, Abdul Samad, Paras Dogra (captain), Auqib Nabi, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Abid Mushtaq, Sahil Lotra, Vanshaj Sharma, Sunil Kumar, Kawalpreet Singh, Lone Nasir Muzaffar and Rohit Sharma.

Jammu and Kashmir head into the season as reigning champions after clinching their maiden Ranji Trophy title last season with a victory over Karnataka in the final.

The defending champions will look to carry that momentum into the new campaign, while Madhya Pradesh will aim to spoil the hosts’ party and begin their own season on a winning note—(KNO)
