Two accused arrested

Kishtwar, Oct 19: Kishtwar Police have solved the murder case of a missing Special Police Officer (SPO), whose body was recovered from a pit in the Trigam forest area and arrested two accused, officials said on Monday.

According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police spokesperson said the SPO, Bashir Ahmed, was reported missing along with his service weapon from the Trigam police picket on October 15, following which a search operation involving multiple teams was launched.

“On October 16, during the search operation, police recovered the SPO’s weapon and subsequently his body from a pit in a nallah where it had been buried in the Seran Wani area of Trigam forest,” the spokesperson said.

Following the recovery, a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Kishtwar.

The spokesperson said two suspects, Bashir Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Aziz Dar, and Nazir Ahmed Dar, son of Bashir Ahmed Dar, both residents of Seran Wani, Trigam, were identified during the investigation and arrested.

Their questioning revealed the conspiracy and motive behind the SPO’s murder, while the weapon of offence and the deceased’s concealed belongings were recovered on the disclosure of the accused, he said. Further investigation into the case is underway, the statement said. (KNO)
