Race today; cash prizes worth Rs 6 lakh for winners; Traffic Police announce diversions

Srinagar, Oct 28: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Armed Police Maqsood-ul-Zaman on Wednesday said that around 4,000 cyclists have registered for the J&K Police Cycle Race-2026, ‘Pedal Through Paradise’, slated to be held in Srinagar on Thursday.

In a video message accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the DIG invited more cycling enthusiasts to participate in the race, saying the event aims to encourage young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. “Organisers are also offering on-the-spot registration,” he added.

“We want our youth to be healthy and health-conscious. This is part of the Fit India initiative,” the DIG said.

He said the race would feature two routes—from Lalit Ghat towards Harwan Garden via Shalimar and from Lalit Ghat towards Nagbal Chowk via Foreshore Road.

“We have kept around Rs 6 lakh as prize money, finisher medals and refreshments. On-the-spot registration has also been arranged,” he said.

Meanwhile, Traffic Police Srinagar have also announced restrictions and diversions on Boulevard Road and adjoining routes for the race. Commuters can contact the Traffic Police Control Room at 103 for assistance. (KNO)
