Srinagar, Oct 28: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg on Wednesday reviewed the preparations for the celebrations of Union Territory Foundation Day (UT Diwas) and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas during a meeting held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC); Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar; Director Information; SSP Traffic; Vice-Chairman, Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA); heads of various departments and police officers.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner took a detailed review of the arrangements being put in place by various departments for the two important events.

He emphasised the need for close inter-departmental coordination, timely execution of assigned responsibilities and ensuring that all arrangements are completed well in advance.

Reviewing the preparations for Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, he stressed the importance of ensuring enthusiastic participation of departments, students and citizens in the Run for Unity, underscoring the spirit of national unity, integrity and collective responsibility that the occasion represents.

The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements for UT Diwas and called for organising both occasions in a befitting manner.

He took stock of participant mobilisation, transport facilities, traffic management, public address systems, installation of hoardings and standees, beautification of stages, display screens, distribution of T-shirts and caps, refreshments and the appointment of nodal officers.

Directing the concerned officers to ensure meticulous planning and effective implementation, the Div Com stressed that all necessary arrangements must be put in place at the earliest to facilitate the smooth and successful conduct of the programmes.

Later, the Divisional Commissioner inspected the arrangements at the back lawns of SKICC for the flag-off ceremony of the Run for Unity. He also reviewed the stage development and installation of hoardings, directing the concerned agencies to ensure proper coordination and readiness at the venue.

He emphasised that all departments must work in close coordination to ensure that the celebrations are conducted smoothly, with befitting arrangements and overwhelming public participation.
