SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 03: In a major push to accelerate grassroots2 development, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Charandeep Singh Tuesday chaired a review meeting of the Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj (RDD&P) institutions at the Mini-Secretariat Shopian.

The session, as per an official statement, focused on evaluating the physical and financial progress of ongoing developmental schemes while prioritizing accountability, resource efficiency and the immediate clearance of pending liabilities.

The DDC conducted a detailed review of flagship programmes, including MGNREGA, PMAY-G, SBM-G,  RGSA and PRI/UT Capex. Special emphasis was placed on social audits, convergence of schemes and ensuring that funds are utilized effectively for maximum ground-level impact.

The DDC urged officers to strengthen local governance, maintain transparency and work with dedication so that government scheme benefits reach deserving beneficiaries directly.

Directions were issued to officers to maintain close inter-departmental coordination, continuously monitor ongoing works and deliver visible developmental results across the district.

Emphasizing the vital role of rural development in transforming infrastructure, the DDC termed the Rural Development Department as the ” Pillar and backbone” of the district’s developmental landscape.

The DDC instructed officers and field staff to step up efforts and achieve 100% completion of all assigned developmental targets by November, 25, 2026.

Emphasizing that developmental achievements must be tangible, the DDC directed that Developmental work should be clearly visible on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Mudasir Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Development, Muzaffar Ahmed, Exen REW, BDOs and other concerned.
