Srinagar records 26.8°C; Jammu remains warmer at 30°C
Srinagar, Sep 15: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally cloudy weather with brief spells of rain, thundershowers and gusty winds at many places on September 16 and 17, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said on Tuesday.
The weather department has forecast generally dry weather across the Union Territory from September 18 to 25, with brief spells of rain possible at isolated places. It has also issued an advisory for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at a few places during September 15-17.
According to the advisory, accessed by the news agency – Kashmir News Observer (KNO), farmers have been advised to safely store harvested crops and continue harvesting of apples, paddy and other crops and farm operations from September 18 onwards.
Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 26.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 15.9 degrees Celsius during the past 24 hours.
Jammu recorded a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 21.4 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded 21.6 degrees Celsius and 11.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 24.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13.5 degrees Celsius, Kupwara 27.5 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius, and Kokernag 24 degrees Celsius and 13.8 degrees Celsius.
Gulmarg recorded the lowest maximum temperature among the stations at 17.6 degrees Celsius, while its minimum temperature settled at 8.6 degrees Celsius.
Banihal recorded 25.3 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius; Batote, 26.7 degrees Celsius and 17.6 degrees Celsius; Katra, 26.6 degrees Celsius and 20.4 degrees Celsius; and Bhaderwah, 26.6 degrees Celsius and 16.2 degrees Celsius.
The weather department said the latest forecast indicated a return to predominantly dry conditions across J&K from September 18. (KNO)
