9 drone intrusions reported along J&K IB in 2025-26: MoD report

Srinagar, Sep 15: Annual report of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has revealed that at least nine incidents of drone intrusions were reported along the International Border (IB) in J&K in the year 2025-26.

The report accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) states that a total of 863 drone intrusions including nine incidents along IB in J&K and 854 incidents along IB in Punjab and Rajasthan were reported during this year.

“Effective employment of own Spoofers and Jammers have significantly countered the drone threat. During this period, 237 drones were brought down by own forces along IB Sector (5 drones with War like Stores, 72 drones with narcotics and 161 drones without any payload),” it reads.

The MoD report further said that during the year, two AK-47 Rifles, 75 Pistols and 281.41 Kgs of contraband were also recovered near IB which have been delivered likely through drone assisted means.

“These activities signify greater attempts by adversary to employ drones for various nefarious activities viz. reconnaissance and smuggling of arms, ammunition and narcotics along IB Sector especially in Punjab.” the report reads. (KNO)
