Bemina residents complain of unscheduled power cutsv

Srinagar, Oct 29: Residents of Lane 4, Iqbal Abad in Srinagar’s Bemina area have expressed resentment over frequent unscheduled power cuts, saying the erratic electricity supply is causing inconvenience to households and disrupting studies of students preparing for examinations ahead of winter.

Residents said that the area is fully metered and, as per the notified curtailment schedule, power cuts should be limited to 30 minutes. However, they alleged that frequent and prolonged outages have become routine.

“Electricity is cut off almost every day, and such outages have become very common here,” Syed Gayoor Iqbal, a local resident said, adding that the situation has persisted despite repeated appeals to the concerned authorities.

In a representation, the Welfare Committee of Iqbal Abad, Lane 4, said residents were facing prolonged power cuts almost every night, along with frequent voltage fluctuations during the day.

The committee said the unreliable power supply was particularly affecting schoolchildren, disrupting their studies during the examination period, especially in the evening and night hours—(KNO)
