Srinagar, Oct 29: Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing Ghulam Jeelani Zargar on Thursday stressed on the need for close coordination between the stakeholders and Northern Railway to boost trade of Kashmir apple.

In a meeting with the officials of the Northern Railway, the Director Horticulture highlighted concessional freight rates to maximise the utilisation of JPP-RCS trains on return journeys and encourage the shift of freight traffic from road to rail.

The Director said that coordination among the concerned stakeholders was crucial to making effective use of the available railway services and facilitating the movement of horticultural produce.

The meeting focused on exploring the available railway transportation facilities and using the concessional freight provisions to encourage greater movement of fruit produce by rail—(KNO)
