HC’s mediation drive on litigations concludes

Srinagar, Oct 07: In a significant step towards promoting alternative dispute resolution and reducing the burden of pending litigations, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under the leadership of Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh successfully conducted a mediation drive from 1st July, 2025 to 6th October, 2025.

 

The drive was launched pan India under the guidance of Chief Justice of India, Justice B.R Gavai and Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India & Executive Chairman NALSA and Chairman MCPC who conceptualized the “Special Mediation Drive- Mediation ‘For the Nation” (90 days Mediation Drive to settle pending cases in all the Taluka Courts, District Courts and High Courts of India.

 

During this initiative, a total of 960 cases were taken up for mediation, of these 08 cases were settled through mutual agreement of parties, 206 unsettled cases and 646 cases are pending for final settlement due to awaited affirmation from the parties. These cases are expected to be finalized upon completion of all the required formalities.

The remaining cases were processed accordingly for further proceedings. The mediation drive witnessed active participation from litigants, advocates, mediators, with an utmost support from court officials and staff.

 

Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and Chairman, Mediation & Conciliation, Committee expressed their gratitude to all the stakeholders for their valuable support and expressed hope for continuing such initiatives to enhance access to justice and disposal of pending cases through Mediation.
