BJP’s Budgam candidate files complaint with ECI

Budgam, Oct 29: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Budgam by-elections, Aga Syed Mohsin Wednesday accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and said he has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Aga Mohsin said that Omar Abdullah “knows the National Conference will be defeated, and that’s why he made announcements in the Assembly in violation of the Model Code of Conduct. I have filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India and I am confident that action will be taken.”

The complaint, submitted before the Chief Election Commissioner in New Delhi, pertains to a statement made by Omar Abdullah during the proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly earlier today, in which he announced the commencement of temporary classes for a proposed National Law University at Ompura in Budgam.

According to Mohsin, the announcement, made from the floor of the Assembly, is being widely circulated on media and social platforms and appears to be an attempt to influence voters by projecting developmental benefits in the constituency ahead of the polls. (KNO)
