KISHTWAR, JANUARY 14: The Child Protection Department on Wednesday organised an awareness programme under the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat campaign here at Madrasa Madin Tul Uloom Lilbanat (Barkat-e-Fatima) to sensitise girl students about the legal safeguards against child marriage and its harmful effects.
The programme, as per an official statement, was conducted under the directions and guidance of the District Child Protection Officer, Tariq Parveaz Qazi.
Counsellor OSC, Dr Sana Butt underscored the physical, psychological and social consequences of child marriage and emphasised the role of religious and educational institutions in preventing the practice.
She encouraged students to act as ambassadors of change within their families and communities. ” You can report any incident of child marriage or child abuse on the Child Helpline number 1098, which operates round the clock to provide assistance and protection to children in need”, she encouraged the students .
Supervisor CHL, Farana Tanveer explained the legal safeguards against the Child Marriage.
Social Worker DCPU, Saima Kousar administered the pledge on Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat and stressed to work collectively for the protection of children’s rights.
Among others present included Counselor DCPU, Rumeela Rashid; and MPS, Ruhi Kousar.
