Your mother is your university: SSP Nighat Aman to students

Srinagar, Feb 28: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Nighat Aman, on Saturday said the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are blindly copying others, while the greatest education a child receives comes not from classrooms, but from their mother.

Speaking at the District Level Youth Parliament held at Government Women’s College, Srinagar, organised by MY Bharat, SSP Aman used the imagery of a mirror to drive her point home.

“Our mother is our university. She knows everything about us, from our walking, sitting, and playing. Without us even saying a word,” she said. “When we get such an education from our parents, nothing will be lacking. We will be bright in a bright future.”

Nighatwarned students against imitation. “We should not copy anybody. Whatever we are, let us go with that,” she said, adding that awareness is key to correcting a person’s mindset and that such programmes must continue across the region.

“When we focus on the mirror, it tells us clearly what we are. Remove the dull mirror and keep a clear mirror,” she said.

The senior officer said clarity of vision is the single most important asset a young person can carry. “Their vision should be very clear. It will be properly calculated in their mind,” she said, expressing confidence that the youth of J&K know where they need to stand—(KNO)
