Stresses accelerated implementation and enhanced outreach
SHOPIAN, APRIL 16: Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shishir Gupta Thursday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Mini Secretariat to assess the progress of key power sector initiatives, including PM Surya Ghar (Rooftop Solar Scheme) and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the district.
During the meeting, the DC conducted a detailed review of ongoing works and sought inputs from officers of KPDCL, executing agencies, and other stakeholders.
Emphasis was laid on achieving set targets within stipulated timelines and addressing gaps requiring immediate intervention.
Highlighting the importance of mass participation, the DC directed all concerned officers, particularly Assistant Engineers (AEs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) from various blocks, to significantly increase registrations on the PM Surya Ghar portal.
They were instructed to ensure submission of daily progress figures and work towards covering the entire eligible population of the district.
The DC, as per an official statement, stressed the need to accelerate rooftop solar installations and called for intensified field level efforts to enhance adoption.
He further directed that all inspections related to solar installations be completed within one week to avoid delays in execution.
While reviewing RDSS components, the DC underscored the importance of strengthening power distribution infrastructure for improved service delivery.
Issues related to smart metering were discussed in detail, and concerned were directed to resolve technical and operational bottlenecks promptly, ensuring smooth installation and functionality of smart meters.
The DC also emphasized addressing consumer-related concerns, including billing issues and service grievances, in a time bound manner.
Grievances raised by vendors and executing agencies were also discussed. The DC assured necessary support and directed departments to facilitate smooth coordination and remove procedural hurdles impacting progress.
To enhance awareness and public participation, the DC called for intensified publicity campaigns highlighting the benefits of PM Surya Ghar and RDSS.
He stressed the need to document and promote success stories to encourage wider adoption across the district and further instructed that periodic progress reports be submitted for continuous monitoring and review.
The meeting was attended by Sub Divisional Magistrate Zainapora, Bilal Ahamd, Executive Engineers of KPDCL, R&B, LDM Shopian, senior officers, AEs, JEs, representatives of executing agencies, vendors etc.
