BANDIPORA, JUNE 12: Government Degree College Bandipora on Friday organised a series of activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to promote a drug-free society.
Under the guidance of the Principal, Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, the Red Ribbon Youth Club in collaboration with the NCORD Cell organised an awareness rally on substance abuse under the convenorship of Dr. Mehrajuddin Talie. Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the rally, carrying NMBA banners and raising anti-drug slogans to spread awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse.
The rally, as per an official statement, aimed to sensitise the public, particularly the youth, about the social, economic and health consequences of substance abuse and to encourage collective efforts towards building a drug-free society.
Meanwhile, the NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Youth Club of the college jointly organised a pledge ceremony under the leadership of the Principal as part of the NMBA campaign.
During the ceremony, students and faculty members pledged to stay away from drugs and actively spread awareness against substance abuse.
In another activity, the Department of Political Science, HKM Degree College Bandipora, organised an Essay Writing Competition on Drug De-addiction under the convenorship of Dr. Ajaz Ahmad. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who highlighted through their essays the social, psychological and economic impact of drug addiction and emphasised the importance of preventive measures and awareness.
The programmes reflected the continued commitment of educational institutions towards strengthening awareness and preventive outreach under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
