Yoga sessions begin in Kathua ahead of International Yoga Day

KATHUA, JUNE 15: As part of the lead-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga, the district administration Kathua, in collaboration with District AYUSH Office Kathua Monday organised a yoga session at Government High School Lakhanpur under the “Yoga 365” campaign with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.

The AYUSH team, as per an official statement, comprising Nodal Officer IDY-2026 Dr Bodh Paul and Yoga Instructor Ankush Modeel demonstrated various yoga asanas and pranayama techniques to the participants to promote physical fitness and stress management. Additionally, a pledge was administered under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

The session, as per an official statement, was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma, directions of Director AYUSH J&K Dr Ajay Kumar Tikoo and supervision of District AYUSH Office Kathua Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma.

The DC appealed to the citizens to actively participate in upcoming sessions and make yoga a daily habit for a healthier lifestyle.

As part of the ongoing campaign, upcoming yoga sessions will be held daily at 7:00 am at Dream Land Park Kathua on June 16, Birla Park Kathua on June 17, Government High School Kadyala Hiranagar on June 18, Zananna Park Kathua on June 19 and Purthu Ground Basohli on June 20.

Among those present were Executive Officer Lakhanpur Prithvi Sangra and Headmaster Government High School Lakhanpur Tarsem Lal, alongside local staff and prominent citizens.
