SHOPIAN, JUNE 25: The Cultural Unit of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Kashmir, Thursday organised a vibrant awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA) at Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) Barbugh Imam Sahib, Shopian.

The day-long programme, as per an official statement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents, and artists. Student speakers highlighted the devastating consequences of substance abuse and underscored the need for adopting a healthy, responsible, and drug-free lifestyle.

Adding a cultural dimension to the awareness campaign, artists of the Yadgar Cultural Group presented a thought-provoking skit portraying the harmful effects of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. The performance received appreciation from the audience for its impactful message.

Addressing the gathering, Cultural Officer Kashmir, Abdul Raqeeb Bhat, urged students and youth to pursue modern and emerging fields of education and remain actively engaged in constructive activities that contribute to nation-building.

Speaking on the occasion, AECO,  Cultural Unit, Syed Shakeel Shan stressed the importance of moral education, cultural activities, and artistic engagement in curbing the growing drug menace and other challenges threatening the social fabric of society.

Principal Mushtaq Ahmad and Lecturer Showkat Ahmad expressed gratitude to the Department of Information and Public Relations for conducting such meaningful awareness programmes in every nook and corner of the district and for sensitising the younger generation about the dangers of substance abuse.

During the concluding session, students and artists were felicitated for their active participation and valuable contributions to the programme.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work collectively towards building a drug-free, healthy, and progressive society.
