Directs all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of approved projects, inter-departmental coordination

KUPWARA, JULY 01: Managing Director, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Mahmood Ahmad Shah, Wednesday visited the border village of Keran to review the implementation and progress of developmental works being undertaken under the Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II).

The visit, as per an official statement, was aimed at assessing the pace of development, reviewing the implementation of key government schemes, and interacting with local residents to understand their developmental aspirations and concerns.

During the visit, the Managing Director chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Keran, which was attended by officers from the district administration and various line departments. He reviewed the overall developmental profile of the village, with a special focus on infrastructure development, public service delivery, connectivity, livelihood generation, and the status of projects sanctioned under VVP-II.

Reviewing the progress of ongoing works, the Managing Director directed all concerned departments to ensure the timely completion of approved projects and stressed the need for close inter-departmental coordination for their effective implementation. He observed that the Vibrant Villages Programme is aimed at transforming border villages into vibrant, self-reliant, and sustainable communities by strengthening infrastructure, improving essential services, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Emphasizing accountability, he called for regular monitoring of all projects to ensure quality execution, transparency, and adherence to prescribed timelines. He also instructed officers to proactively identify developmental gaps and address them in a coordinated manner so that the benefits of various government welfare schemes reach every eligible household.

Earlier, the Managing Director chaired a Public Darbar at the Mini Secretariat, Keran, where he interacted with local residents and listened to their grievances and suggestions. The participants raised issues related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, education, healthcare, civic amenities, and other developmental needs.

Giving a patient hearing to the public, the Managing Director assured them that all genuine issues would be examined and taken up with the concerned departments for prompt redressal. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to the holistic development of border villages and emphasized that active community participation is vital for the successful implementation of developmental initiatives.

The Managing Director was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer, Kupwara, Parvaiz Ahmad Lone, along with officers of various line departments during the visit.
