Leh, Jul 08: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena on Wednesday said the Union Territory recorded a significant surge in tourist arrivals in June this year, with overall footfall crossing 1.07 lakh and foreign tourist arrivals doubling compared to the corresponding month last year.

Sharing the figures, LG Saxena said that Ladakh received more than 1.07 lakh tourists in June 2026, registering a 44 per cent increase from 75,089 visitors during the same month last year.

He said foreign tourist arrivals reached 6,680 in June this year, marking a 100 per cent jump from 3,349 foreign tourists recorded in June 2025.

According to the LG, most foreign visitors came from Israel, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Russia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia and Thailand, among other countries.

Saxena attributed the growth to sustained infrastructure development and tourism promotion in Ladakh, and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership in helping position Ladakh as a prominent global travel destination—(KNO)
