Baramulla, Jul 20: Security forces on Monday recovered a massive cache of war-like stores, including Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), pistols and ammunition, during a joint search operation in the Kandi forest area of Baramulla district, officials said.

An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the operation was jointly conducted by the Indian Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles, Baramulla Police, 53 Battalion of the CRPF and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

During the search, the joint team recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two pistols and 530 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition concealed in the forest area.

Officials described the recovery as a major operational success, saying the seizure is believed to have averted potential terror activities in the region.

Further investigation has been initiated in this regard, they added. (KNO)
