Srinagar tops with 1,152 applications; process completed: CEO
Srinagar, Jul 27: Jammu & Kashmir has recorded 4,693 registrations for Haj-2027, with Srinagar emerging as the highest contributor with 1,152 applications, while the overall number of registrations remains almost on a par with last year’s 4,717 pilgrims who undertook the annual pilgrimage.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the J&K Haj Committee, Dr Shujaat Ahmad Qureshi, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a total of 4,693 intending pilgrims from the Union Territory have registered for Haj-2027.
According to the district-wise figures, Srinagar accounted for the highest 1,152 applications, followed by Baramulla (595), Anantnag (420), Budgam (404), Pulwama (361), Kupwara (323) and Kulgam (265). The remaining registrations were received from other districts across Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Qureshi said the registrations from J&K form part of the 2,01,725 Haj applications received across the country after the Haj Committee of India extended the registration period.
“The registration process has been completed smoothly. The remaining Haj-related formalities will now be carried out as per the schedule notified by the Haj Committee of India,” Dr Qureshi said. (KNO)
