BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 10: Social Welfare Department, SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Budgam, organised an Awareness-cum-Distribution Programme at Government Middle School, Beerwah.

The programme, as per an official statement, was organised under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative with the objective of promoting education, health, dignity, safety and empowerment of the girl child.

During the programme, school bags along with stationery items and sanitary kits were distributed among deserving girl students. The initiative was aimed at supporting the educational needs of girl students while promoting awareness regarding menstrual hygiene, personal health and well-being.

As part of the awareness session, the students were sensitised about the importance of education, gender equality, personal hygiene, menstrual health and safety, besides being informed about various women- and girl-centric welfare schemes and initiatives being implemented by the Government.

The SANKALP Hub team encouraged the students to pursue their education with confidence, understand their rights and make use of the opportunities available to them. The programme also emphasised the importance of creating a safe, supportive and enabling environment for the holistic development of girl children.

The programme concluded with an appeal to the students to remain focused on their education, maintain good personal hygiene and actively participate in building a more equal, aware and empowered society.
